Airline & Travel Tips
Home. Business trip. Honeymoon. Family vacation. No matter where you’re going, airline travel is an essential part of your trip.
Take a few moments and aquaint yourself with some of the security measures you may encounter at the airport. --Lighters and matches - Carry-on Rules You cannot bring lighters (fueled or without fuel) in carry-on luggage or on your person going through the security checkpoint. Checked airline Baggage Rules for lighters and matches You may take up to 2 fueled Zippo lighters in your checked baggage if they are properly enclosed in a DOT approved case. You can bring unlimited quantities of unfueled lighters in your checked baggage. If you are uncertain as to whether your lighter is prohibited, please refrain from bringing it to the airport. Tip: Double-check your checked baggage for fueled lighters and your carry on baggage and pockets for all lighters before arriving at the airport. Because of federal laws and operational considerations, prohibited items that you leave at the checkpoint cannot be returned. Your airline is responsible for taking possession and disposing of all hazardous material. You may not bring matches in your checked baggage because of safety regulations. You may, however, bring up to four books of safety (non-strike anywhere) matches in your carry-on baggage or on your person. For safety reasons, you may not bring "strike anywhere" matches at all.
Liquids, Gels and Aerosols?
Air travelers may now carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry on bag
With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula and breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items. NOTE: Be certain to double check with your airline prior to depature for any changes in carry on items at airport security checkpoints.
